We were left to believe our minds were trapped in VR because of a minor software failiure. The IRL was discovering to its horror that the failiure was due to an expired patent. Furthermore, there wasn’t any money to be made from fixing the problem, so IRL-dwellers were now faced with taking care of friends and relatives unfortunate enough to be logged in. In other words, everyone will remember where they were and what they were doing when we heard those three little beeps. #MicroFiction
